about

[Disc 2 of 2]

Död is a solo project of Sydney-based bassist/composer/producer Andrew Mortensen.
The music is a mixture of dark and depressive, melodic yet discordant black metal.

The debut album "Hymns From the Promised Wasteland" draws influences from Emperor, Burzum, Dimmu Borgir, Deathspell Omega, early Abigor and classical composers Debussy and Stravinsky.

Andrew Mortensen has been playing in the Sydney music scene in a diverse array of bands for over a decade. Current and past projects include Serious Beak, AM Frequencies, Slimey Things, Adam Pringle, Leroy, Dyke Destroyer as well as collaborations/remixes with Violence In Action, Julian Curwin (Tango Saloon), Alon Ilsar (Darth Vegas) and many more.

Död was conceived back in 1996 when Andrew first discovered the infamous genre known as 'black metal'. Fast-forward to 2007 where he began composing dark music on an organ.
Translate these organ compositions to guitar, and you have the tracks that appear on the album.

The album was recorded at AM Frequencies over a period of 4 years.
The album also features some guest contributors; Peter Howse (Rupert Goes Shopping) and
Nick Soole (Slimey Things).
